There could not be a better time to be a fan of electronics than now. It seems like each week some new life-changing device or app is released and the public can’t get enough of it. In the past, people would become upset when a new technology or electronic device became available because it meant that upgrading would be necessary. Now, lines form outside stores days before the latest “upgrade” is available for sale.
The Apple iPad is currently the hottest thing in electronics right now, with good reason. The iPad has only been available for a short period of time, but it already has thousands of apps and e-
books ready for downloading. Its brilliant display and super-thin design has made the iPad the perfect devices for surfing the net while lying in bed or watching a movie while traveling.
While the iPad is revolutionizing the way portable electronics are used, HD TVs are beginning to make the leap into 3-D technology. Leading manufactures, like Samsung and Panasonic, have already released 3-D HD TVs to the public, ahead of 3-D programming from DirecTV satellite providers and ESPN. Blu-ray players have also dipped into the 3-D market, moving the home-theater experience to a whole new level.
Gamers also have a lot to be excited about since the news that 3-D video games will soon be on the market. Nintendo has recently announced their plans to create the first portable 3-D gaming device, where the player would not need to wear special glasses while playing. An upcoming update to Sony’s Playstation 3 will allow its players to experience 3-D graphics through the use of glasses. Sony also looks to compete with the Nintendo Wii’s motion-sensing gaming market with the release of the Playstation Move controllers. These controllers look like microphones and are similar to the responsiveness of Nintendo’s Wii-motes. Corresponding PS3 games have also been announced.
In some cases, bigger is better, but computer users have been doing the opposite as sales of netbook computers
. Bulky laptops are filled with programs and applications designed to get work done, but what about when you just want to send instant messages and check up on the social networking sites? In comes the netbook, perfect for watching viral videos and firing off emails, and just the right size to keep alongside you on the couch. Just think, at one time computers were as large as a school bus, now they can get lost between the couch cushions.
Electronics are more powerful than ever and even simpler to use. Grandparents are even texting on iPhones and farming crops on the internet. Just another reason why we love electronics and so should you.
